9 月 28 日消息，WordPress 开发商 Automattic 与托管商 WP Engine 昨日宣布决裂，Automattic 现已禁止 WP Engine 访问 WordPress.org。
此前，Automattic 首席执行官兼 WordPress 的共同创建者马特・穆伦维格（Matt Mullenweg）批评 WP Engine 从开源 WordPress 项目中牟取超过 4 亿美元的收入，称其为“WordPress 的毒瘤”，并指责该公司对社区的贡献微乎其微。
WP Engine 则反驳 Mullenweg 的指控，称自己是第一的 WordPress 平台，自豪于对 WordPress 生态的贡献，并认为相关攻击只是 Automattic 想要索取更多授权费用，声称 Automattic 要求其继续支付数千万美元才能继续使用 WordPress 商标。
双方互相争执不下，最终，Automattic 于北京时间昨天正式封禁了 WP Engine 的访问权限，这意味着由 WP Engine 托管的用户将无法通过后台更新 / 安装 WordPress 主题插件。对此 WP Engine 回应称 Automattic CEO 马特・穆伦维格滥用对 WordPress 的控制权。
WP Engine 向用户表示，Automattic 实行的政策意味着他们无法通过 WP Admin 安装或更新主题 / 插件，但对网站的性能及安全并无影响。
On September 28th, news broke that Automattic, the developer of WordPress, and the hosting provider WP Engine announced a split, with Automattic now prohibiting WP Engine from accessing WordPress.org。Previously, Automattic’s CEO and WordPress co-creator Matt Mullenweg criticized WP Engine for profiting over $400 million from the open-source WordPress project, calling it a “cancer to WordPress” and accusing the company of contributing very little to the community。In response, WP Engine refuted Mullenweg’s allegations, claiming to be the premier WordPress platform and taking pride in its contributions to the WordPress ecosystem. They argued that the attacks were merely an attempt by Automattic to demand more licensing fees, stating that Automattic required them to continue paying tens of millions of dollars to use the WordPress trademark。
The dispute escalated, and Automattic officially banned WP Engine’s access rights, which means users hosted by WP Engine will no longer be able to update/install WordPress themes and plugins through the backend. WP Engine stated in response that Automattic CEO Matt Mullenweg was abusing his control over WordPress. They reassured users that Automattic’s policy, which prevents them from installing or updating themes/plugins via WP Admin, does not affect website performance or security。
